Casalingo & Prosciutto Sandwich Melt

< back to recipes

Floridia Casalingo is a natural cheese made from fresh pasteurized cow’s milk. Casalingo has a semi-soft texture with a creamy firm consistency, yellowish rind and a pale yellow body. This cheese is sweet and delicate in flavour and is the perfect companion with cured meats, fig jam and honey.

  • 3 slices sourdough bread
  • 6-8 slices thin prosciutto
  • 100g Floridia Casalingo cheese
  • 1/4 cup spinach or rocket
  • 1 cherry tomato (optional)
  1. Wrap two pieces of your sourdough with prosciutto to cover them. Alternatively, you could just place the prosciutto inside the bread like a normal sandwich, this is just a fun, fancy, different idea.
  2. In a small non-stick pan on a low-medium heat, melt your delicious slice of casalingo cheese and slide it onto the base of the sandwich, which is a slice of prosciutto wrapped bread.
  3. Next layer is your uncovered slice of sourdough, followed by the spinach or rocket. Topping it all off with prosciutto bread & a cherry tomato.

Note: if you would like mayonnaise, a basil pesto or tomato relish in this sandwich they would go very nicely.
